ArtWorks Together – Creativity through Lockdown

Fri. 18 September 2020 — Fri. 20 November 2020

Artist Yasmin Saddington with her artwork Minnie Mouse

ArtWorks Together – Creativity through Lockdown is an online exhibition organised by 70 artists with learning disabilities and autism from South Yorkshire based arts organisation ArtWorks. The exhibition showcases work the artists created at home during lockdown.

Before lockdown the artists often collaborated with one another, but the pieces on display were created by each artist individually using materials sent out by ArtWorks – showcasing their unique style and the character.

Alongside creating artwork, a small group of the artists, known as The Bradgate Band, have also written, recorded, and composed their own album titled Livin' La Vida Lockdown. The musicians articulate the process of re-evaluating ourselves and our basic daily life, which has been a result of the lockdown experience. The album cover features artwork created by artists at Steps Residential Care with support from Christopher Johns.
