Good things happen when people work together. Black Arts World: Slate Weekender, a series of events this month, is a case in point. Spanning four days, Black Arts World is a showcase of the new wave of Black artists in the North, and the programme is impressively packed – covering visual arts, design, music, literature and spoken word, dance, performance, film, photography, live art, skills development and wellbeing. And all in our favourite stretch of the city. You’ll find workshops, exhibitions and performances, and a couple of socials, at Site Gallery, Site Square, Sidney + Matilda, Showroom and Workstation.
In an increasingly divided world, Slate champions connection, solidarity and arts for social change. Artists and speakers will cover themes of artistic expression, change-making, intersectionality, politics and culture, Black experience, ecology and internationalism.
Every event is FREE to attend. Some events are ticketed and have limited capacity, so jump to it. For the full festival line-up visit Eclipse website.
