The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Sheffield's love of the great outdoors is being championed throughout March this year, with a monthlong programme of activities and events – from city centre dual mountain bike racing to trail runs, film screenings to urban caving.

The 2019 Festival of the Outdoors will offer opportunities for you to take part in your favourite outdoor activity or try out something new, as well as plenty of chances to just sit back and watch the action.

The Festival opens on Friday 1 March with the Kendal Mountain Festival Tour at Abbeydale Picture House, followed by the RabClimbing Works International Festival over the opening weekend. It all builds up to one big weekend (22-24 March) when there'll be major events like Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, Howard Street Dual, Big Running Weekend and The Magnificent Seven hill climb challenge.
