The Gleadless Valley Wildlife Trust have been the local environmental charity working to improve the woods and greenspace of Gleadless Valley for the benefit of wildlife and the community. The setting of the estate within and around ancient woodlands and farmlands is probably unique in the UK. Join volunteers from the Trust for a roughly 2 mile circular walk through woodlands and grasslands within the Gleadless Valley estate, finding evidence of past industries and farming practices, some of which are still relevant to the work of the Trust, and learn about the plant and wildlife in the Valley and its annual cycle.
The route will have ascents and descents, and there are steps and stairs. Wear footwear comfortable for walking and dress for the weather.
