Helen McCookerybook was the original bass player and lead singer of The Chefs – a Brighton based punk rock band and favourite of broadcasting legend John Peel. The Chefs made an impact by playing upbeat pop tunes about everyday subjects that would see them become a key influence on the C-86 and twee pop movements that would follow.
Her performance at The Lantern Theatre marks the 40th anniversary of her 1979 recording debut with The Chefs. She’ll be preforming a solo set on guitar that will feature a whole load of fan favourites. Don’t miss it!
