Outside/Inside brings together three artists from different countries, backgrounds, cultures and religions, who each practice art as a form of release. It explores how the artists overcome barriers through their work.
Karmand Tahsin from Kurdistan was banned from creating art when at university in Iraq. Karmand works in art installation, mixed media and paints in various forms.
Farhan Mordi was born in Saudi Arabia of Eritrean background. He claimed asylum 20 years ago and often creates his art at Sheffield’s Conversation Club.
Annie Anthony Mays was born in Singapore and is of South Asian descent. She has lived in Sheffield for over 35 years, running arts workshops for refugees and asylum seekers.
