Gut Level is a Sheffield-based DIY event space and collective that focuses on dance music, club culture and the surrounding communities. Through their club events and workshops, they give a platform to people who are underrepresented in the music industry, namely queer/LGBTQ+ folks, women and non-binary people. Join them as they take over the Site Gallery digital art exhibition Permanent Distraction by Rafaël Rozendaal.
Session 1: Drone Yoga
4–5pm
45 minutes of classical Hatha postures that flow from one to another by synchronising breath with movement, presented alongside a generative drone composition built using modular synthesisers. Recommended for people with some yoga experience.
Session 2: Live Explorations
5:15–6:15pm
Two 30-minute performances from northern artists. Prangers are a Rochadale based duet who create experimental music and build their own instruments. They'll be joined by percussionist Daniel Watson. The second performance will be from co-founder of Bakk Heia Records, Jorg Kuning. His live sets draw from the collective euphoria of dance and his expansive surroundings in the Welsh valleys – "music built for dark rooms and tender hearts."
Session 3: FLAW x Working Them’s Club Collective Collaborative B2B
6:30–8pm
Gut Level’s sister groups FLAW Collective and Working Them’s Club host a collaborative back-to-back DJ set. Each person will have 10 minutes to share sounds in response to Rafaeel Rozendaal’s Permanent Distraction exhibition using CDJs. FLAW is a collective for people from marginalised genders aiming to create a space to share skills, access equipment, collaborate and support each other. Working Them’s Club is an open collective for LGBTQ+ people who are interested in building a queer electronic music community in Sheffield.
