Each summer, the Children’s Media Conference (CMC) gathers together filmmakers, broadcasters and more, to chat about the most exciting development in children's media and entertainment. And running alongside the conference is Playground, an interactive digital art exhibition aimed at 5-to-12-year-olds and open to all.
Head to Site Gallery with the family during the two weeks to have a go on the latest digital games and toys, and get your hands dirty with fun arts and crafts activities.
Interact with an abstract audio-visual scene inspired by the geometry of modernist architecture. Play with over 36 different interpretations of the classic arcade game Pong. Explore digital landscapes in an immersive musical adventure through space and time. Steer a snake through various challenges using just your feet. Help to create an experimental one-day playground on The Square opposite the gallery. And lots, lots more.
On 2-4 July and 6 July there'll also be chance for kids to get stuck into fun tech at hands-on MakEY activities led by educators from The University of Sheffield.
If you or your child have sensory requirements, or find sound overwhelming, you might like to visit during The Quiet Hour (11am-12pm on Saturday 29 June and Saturday 6 July) when volume levels will be decreased and the lighting lowered.
Ready, set, play!
Open Tuesday-Wednesday 11am-6pm, Thursday 11am-8pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-6pm, Sunday 11am-4pm
