Have a go at printing with Hillsborough-based artist and printmaker Sam Groom.
Sam creates bold and colourful woodcut, linocut, stamp and screen prints. She hand-prints her work onto paper, fabric and wood to make framed prints, artworks and homewares. You can find her work in shops in including the Sheffield Makers Shop, Cupola, Annie Jude's, and The Green Shop.
Join Sam to pick up skills in drawing, mark making, mono printing, using paint and stencils, engraving, design, and stamp printing. Every session will be different – come along to one or two, or book for all four. Anything you make you can take home with you.
Sessions take place at the Bradbury Makers' Shed, part of Gathering Ground in Hillsborough Park.
Session 1: Mono printing using drawing and mark making techniques
A great way to get started with printmaking. This process encourages you to be more relaxed and freer in your drawing. You'll produce results that are both unexpected and inspiring at the same time.
Session 2: Mono printing using paint and stencil techniques
Produce exciting and surprising one-off prints that can be framed as artworks in their own right, but also can lead to further ideas for future art work.
Session 3: Simple engraving using press print
Learn this simple but very effective technique for producing an edition of engraved prints from a drawing or tracing.
Session 4: Create your own simple stamp printing to produce a simple repeat design
This fun printing technique can be used to print repeat designs onto paper, fabrics, even walls and furniture. No drawing skills are needed as even the simplest designs look great!
Please note these sessions are designed for adults.
