Rolling Blackouts specialise in energetic indie rock, full of pop hooks, bright guitar lines and dry wit. They describe their own style as “tough pop/soft punk” and sound like a mix of The Strokes, The Go-Betweens and REM.
The Melbourne five piece released their debut album Hope Downs last year on Sub Pop Records which quickly became one of the most acclaimed albums of 2018 featuring on many end of year lists. The Guardian described it as "accomplished, competent and effortless beyond its years" while Rolling Stone declared it as "10 perfectly pitched guitar-pop songs, not a dud among ’em".
