The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

The Sheffield Half Pint Marathon returns for a fifth time this September – giving you chance to explore the city through its brilliant independent pubs, all while raising money for charity.

Organised by Sheffield breweries True North Brew Co and Abbeydale Brewery, the month-long event will run in 13 of the city's favourite bars and pubs, with each brewery creating a brand new beer specially for the occasion – Strider from True North and Threshold from Abbeydale.

For each Half Pint Marathon beer purchased throughout September, a donation will be made to Sheffield Mind, a charity which provides support to people with mental health issues.

The premise of the Sheffield Half Pint Marathon is simple: at the starting venue of your choice you will receive your Half Pint Marathon card, then for each venue you visit and purchase one of the specialty beers you will receive a sticker. When your card is filled simply hand it in at Forum Kitchen + Bar and you will receive your Half Pint Marathon t-shirt, with hand drawn illustrations from the incredibly talented Will Rea. You can complete the marathon at your own pace, in a day, week or even over the whole month.

Ready, set, go!
