Soft Blushes of New Dawns is an art exhibition celebrating life with Parkinson’s Disease.
It brings together work by three artists, two with Parkinson’s and one a carer, showcasing what can be achieved by a refusal to be beaten by the disease.
Diagnosed in 2016, Jan Sargeant took up painting in 2018 to provide distraction following early retirement caused by the increasing disability of the disease. She is currently working with a group at Oxford University, encouraging other Parkinson’s sufferers to express their lived reality of the disease through art, work in collaboration with the Ashmolean Museum.
Jan and her husband, and also carer, Ted Kennedy, set up Amity Arts last year with the hope of bringing this disease to the attention of a wide public audience and increases understanding and awareness of the illness. The exhibition also featured work by London based artists Chris Rangel.
