Following the television broadcast in June this year, Alan Bennett's Talking Heads comes to the Crucible with Imelda Staunton in A Lady of Letters and Maxine Peake in Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet.
Irene Ruddock (Imelda Staunton) spends her life dashing off letters of complaint. When she’s not writing, she’s keeping an eye on the couple opposite and a little girl with bruises. But when the police come by, it’s Irene whose life is turned upside down. Imelda Staunton plays Miss Ruddock.
Miss Fozzard (Maxine Peake) has a new chiropodist, Mr. Dunderdale, whose attention to her feet seems sometimes to go beyond the line of duty. Their weekly appointments soon raise the tricky question of who’s treating whom?
Talking Heads is part of Sheffield Theatres' Together Season, which sees the Crucible reopen its doors in October to reduced audience numbers in a socially distanced way. Measures in place include staggered arrival times, face coverings, hand sanitiser stations, temperature checks, and no physical tickets – see full details.
