Bible Belt town Eureka Springs, Arkansas is known for two, very different, very public performances. Their take on the Passion of Christ, which attracts evangelical Christian audiences, and their gospel drag shows, which attracts younger crowds of queer and liberal youth. The Gospel of Eureka follows the performers of the two different shows and discovers that not only do those on stage have similarities, their audiences may not be so different after all. Funny, colourful and optimistic, the film is a much-needed look at the deep divides in American culture, whilst suggesting that a bit of personal connection might just be the way forward.
