Utility Tapes is a new Sheffield-based cassette label and they’re throwing a party at historic Bishops' House to celebrate their first releases.
Created by Adam Zejma, who co-founded the DIY label Tye Die Tapes, their output will be focussed on releasing left-field, outsider music. All releases will all be unified by a clear visual aesthetic.
All three acts performing on the night will be releasing music through the label. Zejma will be performing an improvised set that folds layers of ambient and harsh noise using guitar and electronics. Playing their first ever show, Space Malk will craft improvised experimental rock music that will feature elements from their upcoming debut album Land of Malk and Honey. Sammartino – Sheffield’s premier masked synth-pop artist – has spent the last three years crafting the technology soundtrack to the end times; expect conspiracy theories, hymn sheets and hooks.
