Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo might have reached the grand old age of 60, but it has stood the test of time and is viewed by many as one of the best films ever made. The psychological thriller follows former police detective Scottie (James Stewart) who is hired to follow Madeleine (Kim Novak) after her husband becomes concerned about her behaviour. Scottie – who also happens to be scared of heights – rescues Madeleine from a suicide attempt and then develops an unhealthy obsession with her. All is not what it seems though, and the detective soon finds himself embroiled in a very unsettling plot that sees him reach some rather uncomfortable heights.
