Wood and Stone, Land and Sea is an exhibition of paintings by Paul Dearden and sculpture by Steve Hudson, coming to Yorkshire Artspace's Exchange Place Studios this May.
Paul draws inspiration from the equally contrasting and alluring land and sea of Yorkshire landscapes, from the strata in the cliffs and stone structures of Saltwick Nab near Whitby, to the limestone gorge and ancient woodland of South Anston Stones where he spent his childhood. Meanwhile, Steve’s work makes use of wood and stone to form sculptural pieces.
Born from a fascination with how history makes its mark on the landscape, both visible and invisible, overt and hidden, this exhibition forms a new body of work which explores the memory of location.
The exhibition will also feature video presentations by Trevor Pollard, related to the landscapes.
3 May, 6-9:30pm
