A row of shops just off the high street, Chapel Walk may seem an unlikely address for a small art gallery driven by a "radically inclusive" ethos. Behind the doors at number 35, though, you'll find an ever-changing showcase of creativity unlike anywhere else in Sheffield city centre.
35 Chapel Walk exists with support from the Methodist church next door. Unsurprisingly, then, its exhibitions often encourage the exploration of spirituality. However, its programme doesn't limit itself to one denomination or movement. 35 Chapel Walk is above all a platform for seldom represented expressions and artists who may be otherwise overlooked – with recent exhibitions covering subjects ranging from queer identities to western preconceptions about Muslim women.
So next time you're on the high street, take a diversion and allow this tucked-away gallery to surprise you.
