Books On The Park used to be in a pokey front room space on Rustlings Road. It was well stocked but overwhelming – too hard to find what you wanted.
A couple of years ago it took over the space on the corner by Trinity Church and Antics, which has afforded Books On The Park not only more space for stock, but different rooms to help navigate the space.
Books On The Park has the highest level of quality control in any of Sheffield’s bookshops: if a book is not pristine or – at the very least – desirable, it will be shipped off to a charity shop or sold for change on the street. On entering, you will find immaculate collections of first folios and perfect leather-bound hardbacks next to a very fine and esoteric collection of Sheffield and Peak District-based pamphlets (covering ghosts, walks and industrial history). The rest of the shop opens up to roam around history, literature, poetry and various classics. A bonus of Books on the Park is the exceptional quality vinyl stock in the back room, covering a lot of Americana and folk recordings.
