Tucked away on the junction of Shoreham Street and Mary Street is an unassuming building that, in typical Sheffield style, hides delicious wonders within. Sentinel Brewing Co opened in 2015 and has since proved itself a mainstay of the city-centre, post-work crowd.
All keg and cask beer is brewed fresh on site, just moments away from the bar, filling the room with the very best aromas of malt and hops. Expect tasty British, continental and American beers brewed to Sentinel recipes developed by master brewers. Order in thirds, halves and pints, or ask for a tasting flight to make the most of the very reasonably priced selection. The food is pretty great too – a cheap and changing menus of snacks (pork pies, rarebit) as well as heartier, boozy influenced meals such as 12-hour ale-braised beef brisket and grilled cheese sandwich, or stout roasted field mushrooms on toast with hazelnut and endive salad.
In addition to the beers on the bar, Sentinel offers an intriguing selection of bottles and cans representing other craft brewers across the UK and beyond (especially enticing for gluten-free and vegan drinkers).
With big, bookable tables and lots of space, Sentinel Brewing Co is the perfect place for a celebration. Book a tour of the brewing facilities to make a real event out of it. With a large courtyard decked out with several picnic benches, it's also ideal for post-work beers as summer finally starts to draw nearer.
