Join art historian James Hyman for this online talk exploring the latest exhibition at Graves Gallery, Derrick Greaves: Art Worlds.

Derrick Greaves (1927 – 2022) grew up in Sheffield and his early experiences in the city had a significant impact on the development of his painting. Curated by James Hyman in collaboration with the artist’s estate, Art Worlds explores the sources of inspiration in Greaves’ work and presents 20 paintings made between 1942 and 2021, alongside drawings, photographs and more.

In this special online event, hear directly from James about Greaves’ work and this exhibition, which is the first retrospective of the artist’s work since his death in 2022.

Dr James Hyman is an art historian and art dealer. He received his PhD from the Courtauld Institute (University of London) and is a leading authority on Twentieth Century British art. Since the 1990s James Hyman has built a reputation as a leading expert on modern British art and photography.
