Join multimedia artist Aphra Shemza in her new digital painting and co-creation workshop for adults. The workshop is centred around her shemza.digital project, which is a collaboration with computer artist Stuart Batchelor. Shemza.digital is based on the work of Aphra’s grandfather, the well-known British/Pakistani painter Anwar Jalal Shemza.
In the first half of the workshop you will be introduced to the historical context of the project and the three artist’s work, and create your own digital paintings and animation using the bespoke shemza.digital painting application.
In the second part of the workshop you'll take part in practical co-creation tasks, thinking spatially about how to turn your paintings into an installation for the next stage of the project. This will be a chance to learn about spatial design and the technology required to create an immersive installation. Aphra Shemza will use the ideas generated in the workshop to design an installation which will be toured nationally next year.
A good internet connection and a computer or tablet no older than 5 years is recommended for the best experience. If you are concerned about your device compatibility, get in touch to test before the workshop.
For ages 18+.
The workshop will take place on Zoom, hosted by DINA.
