Joe Scarborough's affectionate, often humorous, depictions of everyday scenes of Yorkshire life pay tribute to the region and the spirit of its people. Whether glimpses into bygone eras or celebrations of landmarks across Sheffield and beyond, his joyful paintings have become instantly recognisable. In the short film below, join Joe on a trip around the city to discover the inspiration behind his bold and colourful paintings. This film was created by Museums Sheffield for its 2019 exhibition Joe Scarborough – Life in the Big Village.
