One Year On: The UK's Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic

The UK has been one of the hardest hit countries in the world in terms of the effect of the Covid-19 crisis. The human cost has been staggering, with the latest ONS statistics showing over 150,000 have died and counting.

As calls for an independent inquiry into the government's handling of the Covid crisis grow, three leading members of the UK's scientific community, who all sit on the Independent SAGE group, take a look back at the UK's response to understand why one of the most developed countries in the world has experienced one of the highest death tolls.

This will be a chaired discussion followed by a live Q&A, with the panel answering questions from the audience. Featuring virologist Deenan Pillay, behavioural expert Stephen Reicher and psychologist Ann Phoenix.

Independent SAGE is a group of scientists who are working together to provide independent scientific advice to the UK government and public on how to minimise deaths and support Britain’s recovery from the Covid-19 crisis.
