The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Resurrection

In the future, humanity has surrendered its ability to dream, in exchange for immortality.

In an intoxicating world of his own making, an outcast finds illusion, nightmarish visions, and beauty.

Unfolding over a series of chapters, the story sends its protagonist through a series of film genres - from silent fantasy, to wartime thriller, to con-artist buddy picture, to millennial vampire romance - featuring some of the director's signature single takes.

A work of staggering imagination from visionary Chinese director Bi Gan (Long Day's Journey Into Night), Resurrection is a monumental love letter to a century of cinema, through an era-spanning journey of our deepest and most human desires.
