Take a tour of the accessible parts of the Abbeydale Picture House and enjoy a presentation by local historian Mike Higginbottom.
When it originally opened in 1920, the building was the largest and most luxurious cinema in Sheffield. It's the only one of its type in Sheffield to retain its original historic decorative features.
This tour will not include access to the building's auditorium, which was closed in 2021 due to safety concerns with the vaulted ceiling. However, the room will be visible from certain parts of the building.
Following on from the tours will be a presentation by local historian Mike Higginbottom who will give more details about the building and early 20th century cinema. Presentations are at 11am and 2pm in the building's Fly Tower.
