Audrey Walters has decided to abandon her successful business in London and pursue her dream of restoring the garden of Albion, a country house she knew as a child. Audrey’s determination and hunger for change, her romanticism about the past, cause her to alienate her daughter, her son’s lover, her oldest friend, and the entire village. The resulting conflicts reveal unsuspected truths about Audrey and all those around her.
Written by multi-award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett (author of the hit TV series Dr Foster, of King Charles III, and the adaptation of Chariots of Fire recently staged at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield), this play was hailed by critics as ‘incisive and unforgettable’ and ‘a deeply satisfying and powerful piece of theatre tackling the great themes of the day’.
