Three years before they made The Matrix, in 1996 the revolutionary trans filmmaking sisters Lana and Lilly Wachowski released their feature film debut: Bound, a ground-breaking work of LGBTQ+ cinema.
Gina Gershon stars as Corky and Jennifer Tilly as Violet. An unexpected rendezvous in an elevator ignites an affair between the two women, who soon plot to steal $2 million in laundered mob money and pin the blame on Violet's incompetent and explosive boyfriend. Bound plays with the classic tropes of a stylish neo-noir to create an enticing and tantalising retro-thriller. It's also one of the first movies to feature two queer women who happily embrace their sexuality and are unapologetically intimate.
