The Nest Collective run events across the country that encourage people to experience music in nature. Every summer, they gather in beautiful green spaces within cities to hear extraordinary music by artists from all over the world. Join them this summer to rediscover one of life’s simplest joys – the sharing of live music in the glow of a campfire.
The Campfire Club is coming to Sheffield for a series of acoustic fireside concerts in outdoor community space The Promised Land in Crookes. In the simple way that people have done for thousands of years, these events will bring people together around the fire to enjoy music, food, drink and the company of others.
For this Campfire Club, the Nest Collective present multi-instrumentalist Suntou Susso – a Kora player, percussionist, singer and composer from the Gambia.
Born a Griot in a 700-year old tradition, the Kora – harp-lute with 22 strings – is unique to the Griots of the Mandinka people. Griots have a unique societal role as oral historians, transmitting and preserving a people’s culture through the generations in song, music and poetry.
Opening this show will be Benjin.
