Led by food-writing editor Katie Fisher, this introductory workshop will give you food for thought! Food is central to our identities and life journeys: the food we loved as kids, to the food we enjoy with loved ones, the food that reminds us of home. And by exploring and sharing the stories of the food we love, we can reconnect with ourselves and build new connections with others. In this workshop, we'll explore how we think about food writing, including what forms this can take, and how readers connect with an author through food writing/cookery.
Through varied activities, including looking at powerful examples of food writing, writing from prompts and other creative exercises, we'll engage with both the practical and emotional elements of great food writing and share the pleasure of this genre, particularly at a time of year renowned for toxic diet culture. Who knows? Maybe you'll be inspired to begin creating a cook book or food blog of your own!
