Death is part of life, but how do we discuss death? Where do we begin?
Thinking and talking about end of life can be difficult, but discussing death may help us to get things organised and give us conversation starters and ideas, for example to help us talk about our wishes with family and friends.
If you have been wondering about these things, you can talk openly and safely about them at this Death Cafe. It's a great way to think about what matters to us in life as well as death.
Please note that this is a safe, compassionate, supportive environment to talk about death and dying but it is not a counselling group.
A Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. Death Cafes are always offered in an accessible, respectful and confidential space, with no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product, or course of action.
All welcome. Free tea, coffee and cake. Venue and toilet wheelchair accessible.
This session is run by Mariana Garcia who has run several Death Cafes. She is an end of life doula who is committed to supporting individuals and their loved ones, as well as groups and communities, through the process of living and dying.
This event is one of a series of free community events running throughout May, enabled by Compassionate Sheffield, to help explore why dying matters.
