From Peterloo to Orgreave – 200 Years of People Power is a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the miners’ strike with speeches, music, poetry and discussions from some special guests. The event celebrates people power and highlights the links between the 1819 Peterloo Massacre and the miners’ strike at Orgreave in 1984.
The event includes a reading of Barry Hines's recently rediscovered play After the Strike, as well as discussions with Mark George QC (Hillsborough inquest), Kate Rutter (of Peterloo and I, Daniel Blake) and Ray Goodspeed from Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (depicted in the film Pride).
