Following on from Persepolis, Kelham Island Film Club keep the theme of animated pictures with Paprika.
When a revolutionary machine that allows scientists to enter and record a subject's dream is stolen, a fearless detective and brilliant therapist join forces to recover the device – before it falls into the hands of a "dream terrorist”. Prepare to enter the realm of fantasy and imagination – where reality and dreams collide in a kaleidoscopic mindscape of sheer visual genius in this mind bending anime.
Paprika is a Japanese surrealistic science fantasy psychological thriller film, based on the 1993 novel of the same name by Japanese author Yasutaka Tsutsui. It was Satoshi Kon's fourth and final feature film before his death in 2010.
As always, ticket holders are privy to drink deals and popcorn.
The film starts at 8pm – arrive early to get a drink before it begins.
