For Heritage Open Days 2024, Sheffield General Cemetery will open on most days of the festival with an exhibition in its beautifully restored Samuel Worth Chapel.
There'll also be new trails to pick up and follow around the site, plus a tour for children, a look at the cemetery's habitats, and chance to meet the folks who research the lives of those buried here.
The first weekend of activities also forms part of this year's Sheffield Showcase programme.

Global Connections Exhibition
7–10th, 12th & 15th September, 10am–4pm
A exhibition in the Samuel Worth Chapel of fascinating stories of people from all over the world who came to Sheffield and are buried in the cemetery. The cafe and bookstall will also be open at the Chapel.
Global Connections Self Guided Trail
A self guided trail around the cemetery about people who came from all over the world and found work in Sheffield industries. Pick up a trail map from the Gatehouse at any time 7–15 September.
Kids' Global Connections Tour of Sheffield General Cemetery
7 September, 2pm – book in advance
A guided tour for children aged 8–16 about people who came from all over the world and found work in Sheffield industries.
Diverse Habitats Self Guided Trail
Learn about the cemetery's diverse habitats and the species that make the cemetery their home. Pick up a trail map from the Gatehouse at any time 7–15 September.

Burial Research Team Open Day
12 September, 10am–4pm – pre-booking not required
Head to the the Samuel Worth Chapel to meet the team of Burial Research volunteers who research the fascinating lives of people buried at Sheffield General Cemetery.
