Park Hill has been a landmark on the Sheffield skyline for over 60 years. It was the first building to use external access decks, known as Streets in the Sky. As such, it's considered of international importance and was awarded Grade II* listing in 1998. A regeneration scheme followed, which continues today. Over the decades the building has also featured in film, TV, music, art, and on stage.
Park Hill Residents’ Association are now organising regular walking tours of the estate. They invite you on this 90-minute, resident-led tour to walk along these famous Streets in the Sky.
You'll explore the three stages of Park Hill's redevelopment. Along the way you'll learn about the history of the building and its celebrated and lesser-known architectural details. You'll also gain an insight into life here today. Outside, enjoy the courtyard gardens in bloom and find out about the sculpture, mosaics and street art around the estate. There'll be plenty of opportunities to take in the expansive views of the city – so bring your camera as well as your head for heights!
