CoMA Sheffield was founded online in 2020 during lockdown we and we now meet once a month in person. We are committed to making contemporary music fun and accessible to everyone. We welcome players, composers and singers of all abilities and experience. You do not need to be able to read music, the main requirement is being willing to have a go. We are led by musical director and composer Louise Vincent.
Each piece in this concert has something to do with the individual and the collective. Sometimes they are opposed (Can we have an A, please?); sometimes they morph from separation to togetherness (Single Numbers). But what they all have in common is an aspiration to rise above the petty distractions of the everyday into something bigger and more all-encompassing – the sky above the clouds
Tickets are £8 or £5 for concessions.
Programme:
- Louise Vincent: Can we have an A, please? (world premiere)
- Angela Elizabeth: Slater Sky Above the Clouds
- Louise Vincent: Open to Huge Light
- Sarah Hennies: Growing Block
- Collaborative piece by CoMA Sheffield and workshop attendees: Single Numbers (world premiere)
This concert is part of Contemporary Music for All’s Festival of Contemporary Music. An adventurous series of events taking place around the UK and internationally in March: See all Festival events.
