Although based in the vague area of ‘post-punk’, having been lumped in with the recent wave of Sprechgesang groups, Squid’s music is often infused with elements of jazz, disco, funk and classical music that gives their sound a glorious element of unpredictability.
Live, The Guardian describe them as “a krautrock kite caught in a prog-rock squall”. Having gained wide critical acclaim since the release of their debut EP in 2019 they’re now touring in support of their anticipated third album, Cowards, set to be released on Warp Records this February.
