Suntou Susso is a master of the kora – a 21 stringed "double-bridge-harp-lute" often described as the West African harp. The instrument has become synonymous with the sound of West Africa and has been used to express the music of the Mandinka culture for more than seven centuries. Suntou Susso has been described as both “a guardian of the tradition and a bold innovator of its future.”
As a performer, Suntou takes the listener on a journey into “heritage, unity, belonging, ecology, and the dreams of ancestors and generations yet to come.” Just your average night at Cafe #9 then.
