Led by Peter Astor, The Loft’s jangling folk-rock textures, chiming guitars and wry vocals became the blueprint for the mid-80s indie pop sound.
The release of two singles on Alan McGee’s Creation Records (Oasis, Primal Scream etc), Why Does the Rain and Up the Hill and Down the Slope, helped cement their status as a cult act before an infamous on-stage split. 40 years later, they released their long awaited debut album Everything Changes, Everything Stays The Same.
