The Notts Queer History Archive is an oral history project started by journalist CJ De Barra works to preserve the experiences of Nottingham’s LGBTQ+ community from 1850 to 2020. Through over 165 interviews and extensive archival research, CJ has compiled two books set for release in June 2025. By preserving stories of struggle and resilience, the project ensures that future generations can learn from the lives of those who came before them.
CJ will talk about Nottingham's queer history as well as providing a brief 'how-to' of grassroots queer archiving.
An exhibition of LGBTQ+ archive materials from Sheffield City Archives and Steel City Queer History will be open from 5pm. The talk will start at 6pm.
