The Sheffield Beatles Project are back! They’re performing one of the group's most loved albums, The White Album, in its entirety this December at the Octagon Centre.
Going beyond the traditional idea of a tribute act, the 30-piece band and orchestra are made up of some of Sheffield’s finest musicians who come together to pay homage to the Fab Four’s seminal back catalogue.
Written over 6 months following a transcendental meditation course in Rishikesh, India, the double album’s 30 tracks show The Beatles in their most creative and experimental period. It takes folk, blues, country, psychedelia, ska and avant-garde styles in its stride, and in Helter Skelter has even been credited with the invention of heavy metal.
This December's gig will be followed the next day with an accessible show. It'll be a little earlier in the day, the house lights will dim a little less, the volume will be a touch quieter, and it’ll be an all-seated event.
