Well-known to Sheffield audiences and beyond as members of Ensemble 360, Tim Horton (piano), Rachel Roberts (viola) and Robert Plane (clarinet), formed Trio Meister Raro in 2022 to further explore the repertoire for their mellow instrument combination.
Named after one of composer Robert Schumann's alter-ego's, the Trio have delved deeper into a rewarding selection of masterpieces and fascination curiosities. Much of their repertoire focuses on storytelling and fantasy from Schumann's 'Märchenerzählungen' (Fairytales), to Jorg Widmann's tour de force 'Es war einmal...' (Once upon a time...) and this narrative element is reflected in many of Trio Meister Raro’s programme offerings.
