Yellow Arch Studios is now one of Sheffield's top live music and recording venues, but the building dates back to the 1870s when it was a part of Sheffield's industry. This tour tells the story of its industrial past and its music present.
This tour of Yellow Arch Studios in Neepsend, on the edge of Kelham Island, includes the wider history of Neepsend, the origins of the building as a blacksmiths and wheelwright, before it became Clarence Works – a screw and bolt factory for the bridge and shipbuilding industries – as well as its more recent music history.
Since 1997, it has been transformed into Yellow Arch Studios, a live music venue and recording studio. The tour includes a visit to the studio where the Arctic Monkeys wrote their first album. It has also hosted recordings by artists such as Goldfrapp, Kylie Minogue, Duane Eddy, Jarvis Cocker, James and Richard Hawley.
With Andy Cook, one of the founders of Yellow Arch Studios.
