Cafe #9 is like nowhere else in the city, and is our idea of cafe perfection.
Somehow Cafe #9 managed to evade our attention for years, but we’re making up for lost time now: we can’t get enough of the place, with it’s wood lined interior, fish tank, dangling plants, chess sets, ace music and warm cinnamon rolls.
Cafe #9 is a proper neighbourhood cafe – people tend to pitch up for a coffee and end up staying for hours chatting to old friends and new faces, getting lost in a book or a game of chess, tucking into a toastie and enjoying the tunes. It wins our best in show rosette for Sheffield's most laid back cafe, and that's no mean feat in our famously laid back city.
It's hard to imagine a cosier setting to enjoy live music than Cafe #9. The cafe hosts around two gigs per week, usually from touring folk acts. Look out for the occasional film screening too. And in the meantime, take your pick from the piles of papers, pick up a copy of today's crossword, and escape from the world on the other side of the window for an hour or two.
