This year’s DocFest Alternate Realities exhibition is the world premiere of artist and filmmaker Baff Akoto's immersive installation honouring the lives, memories and potential of Black and immigrant Britons killed after police contact.
The exhibition combines XR, testimony, poetry from the late Benjamin Zephaniah and prose by Paapa Essiedu to move beyond headlines and statistics and centre the stories of communities that continue to survive, resist and remember.
Don’t miss the Collateral Echoes live performance (17–19 June, various times) exploring rituals of grief and the lived experience panel (21 June, 11am) made up of Yorkshire families featured in the exhibition who discuss their experience of bereavement after police contact with their relatives.
