Japan, devastated after World War II, is at its lowest point when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster, baptised in the horrific power of the atomic bomb.
Godzilla Minus One, the latest in the beloved kaiju franchise – and from the original Toho Studios (now in the Reiwa era) – is the first among many sequels to be set entirely in the period of the 1954 original film.
Returning the king of monsters to its roots as a metaphor for Japan's postwar anxiety and grief, Godzilla Minus One has been critically-acclaimed since its release and is considered to be one of the strongest Gojira stories in years.
This version of the Oscar-winning film is "minus colour", in black-and-white just as the original 1954 feature, and feeling almost like an entirely new film. A must to see on the big screen.
