Join Sheffield-based artist and printmaker Helen Darlington at Carousel Print Studio for a festive linocut workshop this December.
Learn how to use linocut to create your own festive and seasonal designs to print onto cards. This is a relaxed and fun beginners course – drawing skills aren't necessary to enjoy it.
Working from source material or images, you'll draw and develop an original design. You'll learn safe carving techniques and tool use, and carve out the lino printing blocks. You'll produce single-colour prints and learn how to develop them further using colour blending techniques. At the end of the session, you'll leave with your hand-carved printing block and your own original cards. You'll also pick up some tips on how to continue to produce linocut prints at home.
You may want to bring some ideas, imagery or reference material to draw from (though not essential). High contrast images work best.
All materials and equipment provided.
Carousel Print Studio is a not for profit charity based in Exchange Place Studios in Castlegate – you'll find it on the ground floor, to the left of reception. Doors are wide for ease of access and there is an accessible toilet. Email Carousel if you have any questions about access.
