Join Sheffield Modern organisers Our Favourite Places and The Modernist Society for an informal evening in Park Hill’s South Street Kitchen to mark the launch of two new books.
Published by Our Favourite Places, the Sheffield Modern book features photography and essays on the city’s housing, civic buildings and infrastructure. From The Archives: Hyde Park is the sixth and final instalment of a series of beautifully litho printed, limited edition photo books published by The Modernist Society and curated by Dr Richard Brook. Each book in this series by The Modernist Society focuses on post war new towns and social housing – the majority of the images, from the 1960s and 70s, are rarely seen and have never been in print before.
Both books will be on sale on the evening, along with a set of five postcards featuring images from the book From The Archives: Hyde Park. The publishers will be in the bar, if you'd like to chat to them over a drink.
South Street Kitchen will open to the public late specially for the event, selling Middle Eastern inspired vegetarian/vegan food, northern craft beers and wines.
Entry to the Book Social is free. If you'd like to buy a meal at South Street Kitchen on the evening, please book a table in advance by emailing info@southstreetkitchen.org stating the number of people in your party and the time that you'd like to eat (between 5pm and 9pm).
Also at Park Hill on the same evening, S1 Artspace's Construction House exhibition will be staying open late till 7pm.
