Join the folks from Sensoria Festival as they host the Outlaws' Picnic this June bank holiday Thursday. An outdoor family-friendly day of activities, the event will feature acoustic music, book and art stall, games, talks, food and drink.
The event takes place at Loxley Primary School, near what is believed to be the site of the birthplace of Robin Hood (Little Haggas Croft in Loxley Valley). It follows on from the project Reclaiming Robin Hood, led by Sensoria and the Centre for Contemporary Legend at Sheffield Hallam University. The project explores the folklore around one of the world's most well-known outlaws, Robin Hood – also known as Robin of Loxley – and how his legend has evolved over the centuries.
Music acts include Nat Johnson, Nancy Kerr, The Grinnigogs and Little Robots.
Feel free to bring a picnic. There'll also be refreshments on site including B'Reyt Dough pizzas and a bar.
Fancy dress or a red and green theme optional.
Please note that the event site is on the slope of a hill. The site is accessible but assistance may be needed – there is a 'K Gate' installed at the entrance to the woodland. No dogs allowed.
A booklet accompanies the Reclaiming Robin Hood project, with illustrations by local artists James Green, Lisa O’Hara, Tom J Newell and Anja Uhren – order from the Sensoria online shop.
