Join artist Mandy Payne and the Sheffield Modernist Society for an outdoor architecture drawing session.
Together you'll spend a few hours sketching architecture around Sheffield University’s iconic Arts Tower, with Mandy's guidance. Mandy’s work is concerned with urban landscape and issues of gentrification. She has a special interest in Brutalist architecture.
This workshop is for anyone interested in modernist architecture, culture and urban buildings. All levels of experience are welcome – from complete beginners to those who have had more drawing experience.
Bring whatever you normally like to sketch with. Suggestions:
- Paper (and a board to rest on) or sketch pad
- Clips or masking tape for paper or board
- Selection of pencils, charcoal, drawing pens/ink, coloured pencils and/or small portable watercolours if you want to use paint
- Eraser (ideally a putty rubber)
- Something to sit on, e.g. a bin bag or portable seat pad
Please also bring:
- Waterproofs
- Sun cream
- Water
Meet outside the main entrance of the Sheffield University Students’ Union.
Booking is essential. The sessions are free, though a voluntary donation to the Modernist Society would be much appreciated.
